The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art is currently presenting Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt, organized in partnership with the Brooklyn Museum and on display through September 13, 2026. The exhibition is the first major U.S. presentation dedicated to the mummification of animals in ancient Egypt, bringing together nearly 100 artifacts — including approximately 36 mummified animals such as cats, dogs, birds, and reptiles, alongside over 60 significant Egyptian masterworks spanning as early as 760 B.C.E. Curated by Brooklyn Museum experts Yekaterina Barbash and Edward Bleiberg, the exhibition draws on archaeology, cultural history, and modern medical imaging — including CT scans and X-rays — to explore the spiritual role animals played in ancient Egyptian faith and ritual. Docent-led tours are available daily for an additional fee.
